Your dentist, Dr. Marlene Shaw, was born in Haiti and is a third-generation dentist. She has been serving Washington, DC’s dental needs for over 20 years.
Dr. Shaw received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Howard University College of Dentistry in 2003.
She is an AADSM Qualified Dentist, a Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency graduate (University of Utah School of Dentistry), and a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), the American Academy of Clear Aligners, and the American Academy of Orofacial Pain (AAOP).
Dr. Shaw has been named Best of DC (2021, 2025, 2026) and is a Delta Dental Smile Star.
As a general and cosmetic dentist, Dr. Shaw’s treatment focuses on preventive dentistry, digitally planned restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Invisalign clear aligners, dental implants, and emergency dental care. Dr. Shaw believes every patient deserves a healthy smile. She works together with her patients to reach that goal — speaking in clear, straightforward language, in English, French, Haitian Kreyol, or Spanish.
She grew up in a home guided by her parents — including a mother who, despite limited formal education, possessed boundless intelligence, grit, and heart. Those values shape everything she does.
Dr. Shaw is also a professional speaker who shares industry knowledge from the stage, and she mentors young women, young men, and foreign-trained dentists.
